The first in this power category to offer drive-by-wire (entire engine control via electric wires, without the classic mechanical cables) new features for outstanding performance and efficiency.
Suzuki is known around the world for applying its advanced technology and features to its outboard engines, not just those that run the biggest and most powerful outboards.
That tradition continues with Suzuki’s new 2021 DF115BG and DF140BG four-stroke outboards, the first in their class to offer the full benefits of drive-by-wire technology.
Introducing proven drive-by-wire technology to the 115hp and 140hp four-cylinder models, Suzuki offers smooth and consistent gear changes, instant throttle response, improved performance and excellent fuel economy. The reliability and precise handling of Suzuki Drive-by-Wire technology has been proven over the years in popular Suzuki models from 150 hp to 350 hp.
The improvements to Suzuki’s new DF115BG/DF140BG go far beyond the integration of electronic engine management technology. An improved 10.6:1 compression ratio gives these new 2.0L outboards better top speed and acceleration thanks to improved thermal efficiency. Compared to the existing Suzuki DF115A / DF140A models, fuel efficiency has also been increased. Tests have shown that the DF140BG’s fuel efficiency is 5 to 7% better at medium and high speeds. The new DF115BG has shown up to 5% to 6% better fuel efficiency at cruising speed.
Improved engine reduction gear and drive gear ensure better transmission oil circulation.
Upgrades also include a 40A alternator on both models for increased amperage and battery charging performance at low idle – ideal for today’s time- and power-hungry anglers.
While a lot has changed under the hood, some improvements to the new DF115BG/DF140BG are obvious. The engine itself has a sporty, streamlined exterior that looks great on any type of boat. With available leg lengths of 20″, 510cm (L) and 25″, 635cm (X), the new DF115BG/DF140BG outboards are the perfect choice for a wide range of freshwater and saltwater boats. Both new outboards feature new graphics and are available in Suzuki Pearl Nebular Black.
The redesigned fairing also includes a new air intake system with an improved water separation and noise reduction resonator system to dampen engine noise for comfortable boating at all speeds and engine speeds.
To make engine maintenance easier, Suzuki has changed the position of the oil filter, simply by removing the top engine cover you will have easy access to the oil filter. The new oil pan that covers the oil filter allows you to change the filter without causing oil to drain.
The new engines are equipped with an easy-to-access fuel filter with water detection to protect the engine from water impurities in the fuel and provide early warning to the boat operator.
